Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Winners Agree to Allow Transgenders in Miss Universe Pageant
Newly crowned Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Janine Mari Tugonon, Bb. Pilipinas-International Nicole Schmitz and Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism Katrina Jayne Dimaranan said they don't see any reason why they would disagree in Donald Trump's decision to allow transgenders to compete in the Miss Universe pageant.
"I respect the Miss Universe Organization for that. I respect them, their rules. I’m sure they have their reasons. Kung ‘yun ang gusto nila then it’s okay. I’m fine with it." said Tugonon.
Dimaranan, on the other hand, will simply put her support on whatever it is that the Miss Universe organization or even the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc stand on the issue, "If ever [they] decides to [allow transgenders] or not,I will support their decision."
Schmitz, meanwhile, said she is willing to compete with transgenders in the international beauty pageants.
"In terms of competing against other transgenders in pageants, I think we’re all created equal, but in our own unique ways."
