TV5 Reaps Awards and Nominations at Gawad Tanglaw, Star Awards for Movies, and Golden Screen Awards for Movies

Fresh from its impressive performance in several award-giving bodies last year, TV5 once again takes centerstage as Kapatid shows and stars bagged awards at the recently concluded Gawad Tanglaw and Star Awards for Movies.

Now on its 10th year and organized by a group of academicians that aims to recognize quality films, television shows, radio programs and print ads that inspire social and moral values to the public, Gawad Tanglaw (Tagapuring mga Akamisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw) named eleven of the best actors in the last decade (11 Pinaka Kapuri-puring Artista ng Dekada) including Superstar Nora Aunor.

Martin Escudero of TV5’s Kapitan Awesome was hailed Best Actor for the movie “Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington” while Lokomoko actor Edgar Allan Guzman was finalist in the same category for his starring role in “Ligo na U, Lapit na Me.”

Meanwhile, Valiente director Joel Lamangan was finalist for the Best Director (“Patikul”) category and was the recipient of the Gantimpalang Jaime G. Ang Presidential Jury Award for Excellence in Film.

Still in Gawad Tanglaw, last year’s outstanding talent search hall of famer Talentadong Pinoy welcomed the year with another trophy as Best Talent Search Program. Multi-awarded mediation on-air program Public Atorni, meanwhile, was hailed Best Public Affairs Program.

Paparazzi hosts Dolly Anne Carvajal and Cristy Fermin were both recognized as Best Newspaper Columnist in the Entertainment category for their column in Philippine Daily Inquirer and Bulgar, respectively.

Organized by the Philippine Movie Press Club, the 28th Star Awards for Movies hailed Pinoy Explorer host Aga Muhlach as Movie Actor of the Year (“In the Name of Love”). Also nominated for Movie Actor of the Year were Kapatid stars Ryan Agoncillo (“My Househusband”) and Martin Escudero (“Zombadings 1: Patayin Sa Shokot Si Remington”).

Moreover, Nandito Ako star and TV5 primetime princess Eula Caballero has been nominated in both Star Awards for Movies and Golden Screen Awards this year for her breakthrough performance in the movie “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” which was co-produced by TV5’s movie outfit Studio5 and Regal Multimedia, Inc.

Several Kapatids stars have also been listed at the upcoming 2012 Golden Screen Awards for Movies organized by the Entertainment Press Society, including Edgar Allan Guzman (“Ligo Na U Lapit Na Me”), Martin Escudero (“Zombadings 1: Patayin Sa Sindak Si Remington”) and Ryan Agoncillo (“My Househusband”) in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role-Musical or Comedy category; and Aga Muhlach (“In the Name of Love”) in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role-Drama category.
